  1. This option preview area shows the effect of selecting a text-related option, such as jump scrolling.

  3. This scale indicates the maximum number of characters that will appear in a line of text displayed in the terminal emulation window.

  5. When this box is checked, pressing the Delete key (Backspace key on Classic keyboards) sends the delete character. To send a backspace character instead, click this checkbox.

  7. To send a delete character when you press the Delete key (Backspace key on Classic keyboards), click this checkbox.  Press both the Delete and Option keys to send a backspace.

  9. When this box is checked, control characters are visible in text. To make them invisible and have them take effect, click this checkbox.

  11. To display readable control characters in text, click this checkbox. Readable control characters do not perform their control functions.

  43. Local Echo is off. Characters typed at the keyboard are sent to the remote computer, but not displayed on your screen.

  45. When this box is checked, your Macintosh is on line. It can send data to the remote computer and display incoming data.
